Palm Store Offering a $50 Discount

Palm Store SaleThe Palm Store is currently running a fairly nice promotion that gives customers a coupon code "FIFTYOFF" for an instant $50 off any purchase of $200 or more. The coupon code is valid between now and November 5th.

This would immediately drop the Palm TX down to the $250 neighborhood, still the best price for a brand-new, factory-fresh TX from a reputable merchant. The Tungsten E2, with its list price of $199.99, just needs a bit of padding (perhaps a spare pack of styli?) to be pushed over the $200 threshold and be eligible for the coupon discount. The free shipping on all orders over $49 sweetens the offer a bit more.

With Palm's handhelds having almost completely disappeared from most brick and mortar retail chains and the closure of all Palm retail stores, now might be a good time to pick up one final new handheld direct from Palm with this coupon code while availability is still guaranteed. Of course, any other merchandise offered by the Palm Store is applicable for this promotion as it is not limited exclusively to handhelds.

To the best of my knowledge, the the Palm TX had its all-time best sales price of $199.00 during last seasons winter holiday sales. Of course, frugal shoppers might want to hold off until sometime closer to Black Friday as an even more attractive deal might appear on the horizon.

You know, I like the TX more then probably anyone posting here, but still charging anything over $149 for the TX is really a joke. If Palm is really leaving the PDA market then price those suckers down and be done with it. I replaced my TX last fall when they had their $199 special and even then I somewhat grinned and bared it because I have come to accept the long in the tooth TX for what it is. Someone not as familiar with the device will probably feel rather cheated when they realize that nearly no one even makes software for this device anymore, and accessories are even scarce. Don't get me wrong, I still want a PDA but even I don't think I would buy another TX at this point in time, unless it was closer to the $100 range and even then I think I'd go a different route such as an iPod Touch.

The last known classic PDA user.
I've recently upgraded from a PLAM TX to a Newton MP2000!

List price in Canada is still $329, the promotial code is only applicable in the US and shipping and handling is $18.41, grand total of $347.41. For some reason Palm Canada has never been inclined to match US promotions.

Hey, Gekko, where's the quick death to a market leader quote?

And will Palm stock look like this all too soon?
