USB-based Micro Flash Drive Coming Soon

SNE has announced the release of ThumbDrive, a tiny Flash card that plugs into any USB port. ThumbDrive will be available in 16MB ($57), 32MB ($95), 64MB ($159), and 128MB ($310) versions, and will be available direct from SNE's Web site. SNE said it is preparing 256MB and 512MB ThumbDrives for release later this year, and a 1GB drive in 2001. SNE is promising drivers for the Palm OS later this year, though it isn't clear how this will work, as no Palm currently has a USB port. Is this a hint that future Palms will have a USB port?

UPDATE: More about the ThumbDrive can be found here: www.thumbdrive.com

Doesn't the Handspring Visor Modem SpringBoard module have a USB port in it...and isn't the SixPack SpringBoard module also supposed to have a USB port...

Seems these would be GREAT places for a ThumbDrive?

Here's Handspring's description of the modem in question. No mention of USB.

The USB port on the Visors are where the serial port is on classic Palms: the bottom/rear connections. With a driver, it would be possible to use such a "thumbdrive" as there is currently -- from Germany, I think -- some sort of solid state storage for classic Palms that uses the serial connection. mc

usb ...nice

USB ports would be great, always wanted to plug web/digicams in, and would be useful for printing via usb printers, heck you coukd even use a usb mouse ;) though keybourd support could well prove popular. Hehe....with a usb=>com converteri could even use my lie detector with the palm :))
