Palm Centro Makes the Cover of Consumer Reports

Palm Centro Consumer ReportsThe Palm Centro is featured on the cover of the January 2008 issue of Consumer Reports magazine. The January issue contains Consumer Reports's annual look at the current landscape of cell phone deals, plans and carriers.

Palm is of course included in the mix of 60 standard and smart phones reviewed. The Palm Centro is noted in their list of best choices for compact smartphones, and the Treo 755p is given a nod as a best choice for office-type users. The January issue of Consumer Reports magazine is on most newstands now and is available online to subscribers.

Thanks to Dan of All About Centro for the tip.

People who use Palms have been clamoring for a smaller palm phone for years. "Lose the brick factor." "It doesn't need to be that big." Palm finally makes one as if they were listening to their customers and it looks like a home-run. They must get their marketing ideas from the same guys GM uses. (In case somebody from Palm reads this and is confused--it is sarcasm.) Both Palm and GM are in the habit of building products without listening to what the customer wants. Just build it and see if it sells. They are (or maybe were) so arrogant that they were sure that it would sell with their names on it. That's how we got the name "Catera", the dumpster-on-wheels Pontiac Aztec, and probably every Treo since the basic 600. What happened at Palm? Did somebody accidently listen to a consumer? Was it a random event? Was Ed looking down a gun barrel named (pick one: Nokia/Samsung/Apple/LG, etc) and actually decide to put down the martini and do something to save the company? Unlikely they listened to the customers. Retro is in--but not GM's '70s era business plan. Get moving Palm. The Centro is a good start.

Right then. Taps it is.

Hey, Colligan: Do you really intend to screw Palm *after* its dead too?

Where is your Treo god now, you sniveling fanboiz?

I thought you yanks liked having an idiot in charge.

Isn't that why Bush is running the country.

That guy has produced so many stupid quotes I saw a calender that had one a day counting down till the next US election in 2010.

Att Palm:
Foleo = Smartphone companion
T|X = Dumbphone companion
If you think a Foleo will sell and a PDA wont you're out of your mind.

The next US Presidential Election will take place in November 2008..., and we'll elect yet another idiot.

Don't blame me. I voted for Nader. And would do so again!

It says something about how insignificant Palm has become that this discussion is quickly hijacked away from announcements *Palm* should have been making to the detritus who pursue the American Presidency.

BTW, Colligan: RESIGN, god damn you!

Treo 800w outed?

hkklife @ 12/21/2007 8:09:11 PM # Q
TreoCentral has just made an official sub-forum for the 800w. They say they have a REALLY strong feeling that it's coming out "within the next few months" and they think it's gonna be on Sprint.

http://discussion.treocentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f=199

Take it with a grain of salt, of course, but it still makes for fun speculation.

"Next few months" had better start in March. From the earnings call just made:

== "...[Colligan]
==
== Yes. You will see additional products in the Treo line this
== year that we’re excited about.
==
== Tavis McCourt - Morgan Keegan & Co. Inc.
==
== But not based in the February guidance.
==
== [Colligan]
==
== Not in the February guidance, no..."
