Vindigo Now Available for Four New Cities
Vindigo, makers of personal navigation applications for handheld devices, has released a version of its free mobile service for San Francisco, Boston, Washington, D.C., and Chicago. The existing service, already available for New York City, has also been expanded with new lifestyle information from well-known content providers. They have partnered with Zagat Survey for restaurant reviews, ClubPlanet.com for nightlife information, and inshop.com for store listings.
"Vindigo is the perfect way to find things to do, places to go and movies to see in a city, using a device that people carry with them wherever they go. We launched the first version of Vindigo New York in late March in association with nytoday.com, and currently have over 40,000 registered users," said Jason Devitt, co-founder and CEO of Vindigo. "With our new content partners we are enhancing the service we are already delivering to thousands of New Yorkers and launching versions for four new major metropolitan cities. In the coming months, as we continue to add new cities to the service, users can also expect to see even more exciting new content and capabilities being added to Vindigo."
Vindigo's main screen offers three options for navigating to the user's desired action: Eat, Shop, and Play. Users tell Vindigo where they are, by selecting the closest intersection or neighborhood, and what they want to do. Vindigo can then make suggestions based on their interests and provide directions to the specified destination. Users can also bookmark regularly visited locations, such as home and work.
