Palm today made IBM's WebSphere Micro Environment (WME) Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) certified runtime environment available for Tungsten handheld users. The new runtime opens up thousands of J2ME applications and provides a resource for the more than 3 million Java developers.

CodeWarrior Development Studio for Palm OS Platform v9.2 Update has been released to the public. This is a free update to v9.0 and v9.1 users. This update addresses many issues found in the v9 releases, and includes new tools for the latest ARM processors.

Sony has announced the Clie PEG-TJ25 and TJ35 handhelds, priced at $200 and $250. The new models features a thin design with 320x320 TFT screen, a 200mhz processor and run Palm OS 5.2.

Palm today has officially released the Tungsten T3 handheld. The T3 packs a brilliant 320x480 screen, a 400mhz Intel XScale processor and 64MB of RAM in a compact and functional design. The T3 prominently features the largest screen found on a Palm branded handheld to date, and double the resolution of any Pocket PC. Palm today has launched their new fall handheld lineup. Palm has introduced two new Tungsten handhelds, the T3 and Tungsten E and a update to zire line with the new OS 5 Zire 21. Palm has also dropped prices on some of it's current models and has discontinued the m515 and m130.

Palm, Inc. today announced that its annual meeting of stockholders will be held on Oct. 28. The key focus of the meeting will be to vote to approve and adopt an agreement plans for the distribution of Palm's shares of PalmSource common stock to Palm's stockholders as well as the acquisition of Handspring.

Samsung Electronics has announced the world’ firsts 4 Gigabit (Gb) NAND Flash memory chip in a 70 nm process. The new chip is aimed at mobile devices from handhelds to mp3 players. In addition, the company announced a new concept single chip memory solution, called fusion memory.

Sony has lowered the price on its entry level handheld, the SJ22. Its likely successor, the TG35 was on display last week at a Japanese Trade show.

The Fossil Palm OS wristwatch has been delayed yet again. Amazon.com now reports that the highly anticipated model is now listed as "item is not stocked or has been discontinued," and is no longer taking pre-orders.
