zShades Offers Clip-on Faceplates for III Series
Zshades has begun selling a line of color, snap-on faceplates for Palm III, IIIx, IIIe and IIIxe handhelds. The covers, in translucent blue, red, teal, and purple, snap on tightly and provide additional protection as well as personalization Unlike complete case case replacements, using them doesn't void the handheld's warranty. They are available on the Zshades web site for $20 plus $5 shipping.
"Our pre-production orders have been strong," says Zshades CEO Larissa Dworkin, "and now we are ready to ship via the web site, in addition to selling at retail outlets nationwide and through a corporate sales distributor for quantity orders of Zshades with corporate logos.
"Our customers like the unique character Zshades give, as well as the easy identification of individual Palm handheld organizers at a crowded conference room table," she says.
According to their FAQ, the Zshade won't interfere with IR use or the cradle. However, the flip cover must be removed and some peripherals that clip onto the bottom, like the PalmModem, require the temporary removal of the Zshade.

RE: ZShades
For me, though, I'd sooner buy a colored replacement flip cover, or actual device casing than this thing. I'd get cool colors, AND still protect my device, not to mention that a flip cover is cheaper than this thing, and you can still use your form-fitting cases and clip-on accessories.
I hate to knock someone's invention so hard, but it's not such a great idea.
uh- news flash: the III-series is dead. what a waste.
