Palm has announced the upcoming availability of the Windows Mobile 6 Professional Edition operating system update for
Palm Treo 750 smartphone customers in Australia. Hutchison 3 customers in Australia can download the free update from mid-August from
Palm’s Australian website. Other customers will be able to download the update from early September.
There is no word yet on an official release or availability for other International and US carriers.

Ringo Mobile ringtone manager software has been updated. Ringo Mobile now supports
Windows Mobile 6 and includes more options for identifying incoming callers. Among the new features of Ringo Mobile is the ability to quickly and easily associate a picture or other graphic to appear when incoming calls arrive. It also now allows users to set specific ringtones and SMS tones for any caller not listed in the Address Book or, as an alternative, set the tone to Silent Mode when unknown calls arrive.
Pricing for Ringo Mobile starts at $24.95. It is available for both Palm OS and Windows Mobile Treos and includes a free trial period.

Wind River Systems and Palm today announced that Palm has selected Wind River Platform for Consumer Devices, Linux Edition as its open standard Linux platform for future
Palm Foleo software releases. Palm selected Wind River Linux for its standard development and deployment environment that will help speed applications to market, while still meeting the requirements for a stable and robust open mobile platform. Along with the platform, Wind River is providing its Wind River Workbench development suite, professional services and customer support to help Palm and its development community.

Palm Foleo mobile companion. LogMeIn provides secure connections between remote PCs over the web - enabling easy desktop remote control, data backup and file sharing. Adding this application to the Foleo gives users the ability to quickly and securely access files and network resources on their home or work computers when away.

Rumor: We now have a short video clip of the possible Treo 800 online, along with a few mode additional details of the unannounced new Treo. Pictures of the
possible Treo 800p were first posted here over the weekend. PIC does not have a confirmation on the final name of the device or its release timing, though the source seems to think it will fall under the Treo 800 series moniker. Previous leaks about this device have gone under the code-name "Palm Gandolf".

Mark/Space has released a major new version of the Missing Sync for Windows Mobile. The Missing Sync is a synchronization application that connects smartphones and mobile devices running Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system to Apple Mac computers. Along with a number of new features that include video encoding for mobile playback, the 4.0 release becomes the first Mac synchronization software to support devices running Windows Mobile 6.

PalmInfocenter has obtained a set of live cameraphone spy shots of what could be the Palm Treo 800p. The standard blurry camera phone pics show the rumored "
palm gandolf" design in the wild.
The pictures show a redesigned, yet familiar Treo look in a smaller and slightly slimmer package. This Treo 800 (unconfirmed name) is running Palm OS Garnet and features a touchscreen with a "smaller" translucent keyboard. Previously leaked images of a version of this model have also been seen running Windows Mobile. Read on for the full gallery.

Gx5 has released an update for its popular Treo memopad and note taking application.
TreoMemo features a "Treo optimized" interface, with a collection of nicely designed and colored skins. Alex Pruss software has released
FontSmoother 2.1 for Palm OS. FontSmoother enables you to display smoother looking (antialiased) custom fonts. It works across almost all applications on your hi-res Palm OS 5 device. It includes a number of free fonts and you can convert your own Windows TrueType fonts with the free EasyConvert utility. Version 2.1 includes a number of reliability enhancements and a number of bug fixes, especially on Treo devices.
FontSmoother sells for $12.95 USD. There is a free trial period, after which all smooth fonts default to their non-smooth versions until registration is completed.

Palm OS users who run Windows Vista OS have had cause for celebration with
last week's release of the beta version of Palm Desktop on Palm’s website. Now Dataviz, makers of the popular Documents To Go mobile device software suite, have released an updated version of the Palm OS version of their app with full Vista support just as
they promised earlier this year.
Version 10.01 of Documents To Go, dated July 31st 2007, is fully compatible with the recently-released Palm Desktop 6.2 beta. Documents To Go 10.01 is available as a free download for 10.00 users. It can be installed via the Vista-compatible Install tool of the new Palm Desktop while the HotSync Manager 7.0 component of Palm Desktop 6.2 allows proper file synchronization between the Palm device and the host PC.
