TealPoint Software continues to improve upon its
TealOS application for Palm OS devices. Since its initial announcement, a multitude of updates have been released which have improved performance, added numerous additional features and of course corrected a handful of bugs. TealOS simulates the card-based interface of
WebOS on the new
Palm Pre. TealOS comes complete with support for thumbnail image cards, a translucent applications screen, customizable background images, and even a popup wave launcher.
TealOS is available now with a free trial period. v1.06 is the latest "stable" release, while the beta version is up to v1.27. The program costs $14.95 to purchase the full version. TealPoint says it should be compatible with most Palm OS 5 based Palm devices and supports high-res plus devices such as the Palm TX. You can also checkout a video of the app in action here.

Ever wonder what a Palm OS farewell party in Hong Kong would look like? Well wonder no more... The
HKPUG (Hong Kong PDA User Group) just held such a party last week and has posted some interesting photos from the event.
The group decided to host a get together in honor of the Palm OS's recent retirement mandate. Members brought along their Palm OS devices from over the years and swapped stories and bits of data over IR. Nearly every Palm OS powered device from the Pilot 1000 to the Centro was represented and most all of them were still in good working order. Read on for a couple of more shots and checkout the full details in these HKPUG posts.

While we reported in December on ChatterEmail developer
Marc Blanc leaving Palm for reasons unknown, the general consensus amongst the Palm OS faithful was that ChatterEmail would live on for the foreseeable future to serve the e-mail needs of Palm OS Garnet users. Unfortunately, it appears that Palm has decided to quietly let ChatterEmail die a faster-than-expected death by is no longer directly processing new registrations for the app.

Engadget's Joshua Topolsky
made an appearance on last nights NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show. While eventful as that is in itself, the entire segment basically revolved around the
Palm Pre.
The new host of the Late Show, Jimmy Fallon, is apparently a big techie himself and has previously shown a lot of interest in Palm and the new Pre. As such, Engadget was able to get a loaner Pre to bring on the show and essentially showed it off the entire time.
Read on to watch the entertaining clip from the show after the break.

Quite surprisingly, 2009 has been a busy year so far for mobile published Handmark concerning new Palm OS entertainment titles. The latest Handmark promotion focuses on
four new entertainment titles for Palm OS devices, all of which are based on licensed media properties or existing console game ports. The new titles are all developed by Capcom and consist of: Who Wants to be a Millionaire 2009, American Gladiators, Resident Evil Degeneration, and Are You Smarter than a 4th Grader? In addition, a Palm OS port is also available of
Dead Rising, the Capcom Xbox 360 zombie survival smash hit from 2006. Handmark is also offering a 15% discount off any of the four above Capcom titles as well as Dead Rising through the end of the month using the discount code "GAME15".
In addition, a number of additional new titles also offer Palm OS versions, such as Wheel of Fortune Road Trip, Bubble Shuffle, Billiards 5.0, Tetris Mania, Sims 2, The Simpsons 2, Tiger Woods PGA Tour '09, Q*bert, and several Jeopardy! titles. Perhaps borrowing a page from the successful Apple iPhone app store strategy, nearly all of the titles are attractively priced at $9.99, $8.99 or even less, a good bit lower than what Palm OS users have seen in years past.

previously announced public offering of common stock to approximately 23.125 million shares, including approximately 18.5 million common shares underlying 49% of the units of Series C preferred stock and warrants acquired by Elevation Partners in January 2009. In a rather unusual SEC filling, Palm has composed a free writing prospectus on the subject of Roger McNamee's recent Bloomberg
TV interview and
subsequent article. The SEC document includes ten itemized "Clarifications and Corrections" about remarks made by Mr. McNamee from everything from Palm Pre functionality, comparisons with competing products and various market statistics.
The full document can be found on Palm's Investor Relations website. We've posted the relevant corrections and interesting parts after the break.

The newly-announced Sprint version of the
Palm Treo Pro was
rumored a few months ago to include a mixture of both hardware spec improvements and reductions in comparison to its GSM sibling. With the first finalized devices just hitting store shelves, confirmation is making the rounds online about the differing specs between the CDMA and GSM Pros.
Jimmie Geddes of Gadgets on the Go reports that the "new version" of the Sprint Treo Pro with the re-flashed OS has the following memory allocation after a reset and with zero 3rd party applications installed:

Palm, Inc. today announced, subject to market conditions, that it is exercising its right to remarket approximately 18.5 million common shares underlying 49% of the units of Series C preferred stock and warrants acquired by Elevation Partners
in January 2009. In addition, the underwriters will have the right to purchase an additional 2.8 million common shares from Palm to cover over-allotments, if any.
If the remarketing is completed, Palm will receive all net proceeds in excess of $49 million, the original purchase price of the units. These proceeds would be used to strengthen Palm's working capital position and to further bolster the resources Palm is devoting to the launch of the Palm Pre and future product-development efforts.

TreoCentrals Dieter Bohn has posted an early
unboxing video of the Sprint Treo Pro, which can also be seen embedded here after the break. Aside from the packaging, which is just a Sprint-branded version of the standard Treo Pro packaging we showed you on the GSM version last year, Dieter's report focuses primarily on the main attraction of the Pro, which is Internet Explorer Mobile 6 which is also covered in
more depth here. He also shows the Treo Pro CDMA and GSM versions side by side, as well as an HTC Touch Diamond and the older Treo 800w.
IEM 6 is available exclusively on the CDMA version of the Pro and not on its GSM predecessor. In fact, as of this writing, the CDMA Treo Pro is the first Windows Mobile-powered device to ship with an official version of IEM 6 alongside a newer WM 6.1 build. Since IEM 6 requires a 400 MHz or faster CPU, the GSM Treo Pro's already overtaxed 400 MHz CPU has thankfully received a boost to 528 MHz for the CDMA version.
