Sprint has recently lowered prices across the board on all three of its current Palm Smartphones in its online store. Currently the Palm
Treo 755p and
Treo 800w are showing a price of $99 after the usual rebates and new 2yr plan agreements and the
Centro is available for $49.99 with the same promotions. (screenshot after the break.)
Sprint continues to be the only carrier offering the Treo 800w, which debuted last summer with a $249 price tag with the purchase of a 2 year contract and data plan. Both it and the aging 755p are now showing 'instant savings' of nearly $400. The new prices are available online and its unclear if the same deals can be found in retail stores.

Originally
rumored to be on sale in late January, then pushed back to
Feb. 15th, now word comes in that the Sprint Treo Pro launch has been delayed yet again for unknown reasons. The
Boy Genius Report has just posted a recent internal Sprint memo that states the CDMA Treo Pro
"will not launch on 2/15/09 as previously communicated." (View the full memo after the break.)
Sprint's version of the Windows Mobile powered Treo Pro has been in the rumor mill for some time now. The device has already received FCC approval, official specs and a number of rounds of spy photos have been posted about and many stores have already received some product, so the latest holdup is quite curious. Palm's official website has even been recently updated with a "coming soon on Sprint" notice.

One of the most interesting – and most quickly glossed-over - parts of Palm's
CES presentation was Ed Colligan's announcement of multiple third-party software partners on the new
webOS. As any regular Palm user can tell you, it's third-party applications that truly seal the deal for smartphones and whilst a robust first-party software package is essential, third-party apps can make the difference between a platform earning your lifelong loyalty or being abandoned for a younger, sexier rival. With this in mind and in the absence of fresh news from Palm, it's time to take a closer look at these partners and how they might integrate with the webOS. So put on your Educated Guesswork caps and fire up the Speculation Engines as we take a closer look at Palm's partners in crime...

Astraware has released a new word game for
Palm OS and
Windows Mobile devices. Bubble Shuffle follows on from
Bubble Babble in the 'Bubble' word game series and features the ever-friendly, fishy host, Wordsworth Smartygills.
Bubble Shuffle is a simple undersea-themed word-building game that challenges players to create words from a given set of bubble letters. The game begins with 4 letters to work from and increases over multiple levels to 7 letters. To progress from level to level players must create at least one word from all of the letters. Players can shuffle the bubbles as many times as they want, to help them find more words.

The Boy Genius Report has gotten their hands on a lengthy
list of Sprint device introductions and EOL dates that is certainly chock-full of Palm-related information.
To kick things off, the "unofficially official" CDMA version of the Palm Treo Pro now has a solid release date of February 15th, despite being currently available in some Best Buy retail stores already. With the arrival of the CDMA version of the Treo Pro, the worst-kept secret in recent Palm and Sprint history (see our December report) appears to be nearing its conclusion.
The Treo 800w, having been released only in July 2008, is slated to be EOL'd this April, easily on pace to be the shortest-lived Palm device to date.
