When we
reported on the trimming of the vast majority of Garmin's PDA GPS models earlier in November, it seemed that Garmin was going to keep alive a handful of Palm OS and Windows Mobile GPS handhelds for the forseeable future. Now an
article on the Inquirer website indicates that a Garmin spokesperson has admitted that all of their GPS handhelds are dead other than the Palm OS-based
iQue 3000, released in early 2006. All of Garmin's
Windows Mobile-based units are now discontinued.

A new Palm-branded
leather holster case for all Treo models has appeared on Palm's web store. The MSRP is $29.99 plus shipping.
Palm gives the case's device compatability list as all 700 series Treos as well as the 650 and 600. There is, however, no mention of the new formfactor 680 or 750 Treos, probably due to their slimmer size. This understated-looking case is covered with black nappa leather and has an embossed "Palm" logo. It looks to be a decent replacement over the earlier, bulky PalmOne holster case though there appears to be no provision to safely secure the Treo within the case.
Palm also touts the following features of the case:
- Rotating clip allows for adjustment on your belt or purse strap
- Latches securely, but is easy to remove
- Rigid outer design and soft interior lining help protect your device

The "
OnTreo" website featured in Palm's
new advertisements has gone live. It features an animated streetscape, viewed from a sidewalk cafe table, upon which a Treo 680 performs its various functions - playing music, snapping pictures, overlaying street maps and directions from Google Maps etc.

Reminiscent of old top-down arcade shooters like Ikari Warriors, Commando, or Mercs,
My Little Tank is an amusing blast 'em up for Palm OS devices developed by Binoteq and published by
Astraware. Through 60 levels you must shoot enemy tanks, defend your base, and destroy enemy radar stations and bases. You will encounter a range of hostile terrains including snow, swamp, plains and deserts. As levels progress, tougher enemies will appear that require more than one shot or more effective weapons.

Astraware has released an update to
Broken Sword, their excellent Palm OS
graphical adventure game.
Review here.
The following bugfixes are present in the new 1.10 version:
- Fixed an issue with Syria and the Chalice which could put the game into an
impossible to complete state
- Fixed a bug which could cause a crash in some languages when you enter
certain areas of the game
- Fixed some minor text issues
Current Broken Sword users should be warned that the new version breaks compatibility with saved game files from the previous 1.0 version. So anyone who is midway through the Broken Sword game should try to complete the title using their current saved game files before applying this update.

Palm, Inc. today updated financial guidance for the second quarter of fiscal year 2007, ending Dec. 1. The news release contains a quote from CEO Ed Colligan that attributes the revenue shortfall to a delay in carrier certification on the
Treo 750 in the US, which he says will likely ship sometime in January.
Palm currently expects revenue to be in the range of $390 million to $395 million for the second quarter of fiscal year 2007. This compares with earlier guidance of $430 million to $450 million provided Sept. 21, when Palm reported its first quarter fiscal year 2007 results. The revenue shortfall is due primarily to a delay in completing the certification process for a product that the company had previously expected to ship within the quarter.
